The Last Man (Le Dernier Homme) 1968 Director: Charles Bitsch Cast Includes: Jean-Claude Bouillion, Sophia Torkeli, Corinne Brill The Radio Times Guide to Science Fiction: Writer/Director Charle Bitsch clearly has little hope for humanity judging by this unpersuasive combination of morality tale and bawdy satire. Emerging from a caving expedition to find himself in a p-a wilderness, Jean-Claude Buillion immediately reverts to stereotype by cheating on his pregnant wife, Sophia Torkeli, with her pretty companion, Corinne Brill. Had Bitsch spent more time exploring the rat-infested ruins of civilisation, this may well have been more challenging. But, instead, he's content to string together a checklist of platitudes that reveal little about either the battle of the sexes or man's inability to resist his basest instincts.
