The Day The World Ended
1956
Producer/Director: Roger Corman
Screenplay: Lou Rusoff
Cast Includes: Richard Denning, Adele Jergens, Lori Nelson, Touch (Mike) Conners.
The Encyclopedia Of Science Fiction:
The first sf/horror film to be directed by Corman (although in 1954 he had produced Monster From The Ocean Floor), this was, like most of his 1950 films, shot fast (less than a week) on an amazingly small budget (c$40,000). The film tells of a small group of atomic-war survivors menaced by a mutant (created by the radiation) with a bulbous head, three eyes and a taste for human flesh. Corman later improved as a director.
From IMDB:
In The Year 2889 is an almost line-line-line remake of this film, after AIP gave director Larry Buchanan the script for Day the World Ended
